Job Description
Apply Sinking Specialist Fitter at Ivanplats – Mokopane, Limpopo Province, South Africa.
IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.
SINKING SPECIALIST – FITTER REF: UMS-2555
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
· Recognised Trade Certificate (Fitter).
· Knowledge of relevant machines and equipment.
· Knowledge of shaft sinking standards and procedures.
· Understanding of risk assessments and emergency procedures.
· Working knowledge of applicable legislation & Company health and safety policies and procedures.
· Good knowledge of MHSA, Mines and Works Act and Environmental Legislation.
· Must be medically fit – all will be required to pass a medical examination as well as Heat Tolerance Screening (HTS).
· Valid driver’s license.
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
· 3 years’ experience in a sinking construction or mining environment (trackless & conventional).
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
· Daily fitting & turning activities
· Daily reporting and recording of work completed
· Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) Compliance
· Team supervision
