Job Description

Apply Sinking Safety Officer at Ivanplats – Mokopane, Limpopo Province, South Africa.

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

SINKING SAFETY OFFICER REF: UMS-2544

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

•       Blasting Certificate or Trade Certificate.

•       Fully versed with ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 standards, as well as having attended an internal audit course.

•       COMSOC I – Safety Officers Certificate.

•       COMSOC II – Safety Officers Diploma.

•       In possession of a HIRA certificate.

•       Certificate in Root Cause Analysis Techniques.

•       Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

•       Proven report writing and presentation skills.

•       Must be medically fit – all will be required to pass a medical examination as well as Heat Tolerance Screening (HTS).

•       Valid driver’s license.

Advantageous:

•       First Aid Level 1 Certificate (NQF Level 3).

•       Experience as a Supervisor / Foreman.

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

•       At least 3 years’ working experience in safety on large mining, shaft sinking or engineering environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

•       SHE Management

•       Planning

•       Documented Information

•       Operational Control

•       Performance Evaluation

•       Improvement of processes

•       Accident / Incident management

•       Safety capacity building and awareness

•       Staff supervision and coordination of SHE Representatives
